Get some flour

2 Kings 4:41
Elisha said, “Get some flour.” He put it into the pot and said, “Serve it to the people to eat.” And there was nothing harmful in the pot.

Elisha was an obedient servant of the Lord that requested a double portion of God’s spirit, and received it. After receiving his double portion, he set out to do a mighty work of God.

The Lord wants to give us a double portion too, but we too must obey Him. He will not work through us if we do not listen, or obey when He instructs us to do something.

The Spirit of God speaks to us many times, then later observes how we never attempt to do even one of the things He has requested. This is the reason we are left asking why, and never receiving from Him.

There was nothing supernatural about the flour Elisha requested, but his obedience to request the flour. This is what caused God to move on his behalf.

The next time the Holy Spirit speaks to you to do something- do not be surprised if His request is for you to-GET SOME FLOUR!

I realize this is a Christmas carol, but the words are Year-Round.

JOY TO THE WORLD - by Isaac Watts, 1719 - Public Domain

Joy to the world! The Lord is come;
Let earth receive her King.
Let ev'ry heart prepare Him room,
And heav'n and nature sing.

Joy to the earth! the Savior reigns;
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love.

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
John 15:9-11

“In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him.” Ephesians 3:12

One of the grandest privileges that you and I have is the privilege of prayer. I believe that when we get to heaven that one of the things that will amaze us is that we prayed so poorly, and we prayed so little while we were here on earth. I want to tell you that you do not have a failure in your life but what is a prayer failure. You do not have a need in your life but what prayer could supply that need. There’s not a sin in your life that a proper prayer life couldn’t overcome. Hymn writer Joseph M. Scriven penned these words, “O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.” Friend, rather than wringing our hands, we ought to be bending our knees.

Spend some time in prayer – offering praise to God for hearing and answering every prayer you offer to Him. He may answer, “Yes.” He may answer, “No.” He may answer, “Wait.” But, He will answer.

LINCOLN LOOKS TO GOD
"In sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope, authorized by the Divine teachings, that the united cry of the nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings, no less the pardon of our national sins..."
--Abraham Lincoln

Glory Be Unto the Father

Walking by, a minister saw his 5-year-old son and playmates find a dead robin.

Feeling that proper burial should be performed, the children had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased.

The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his father always said:
"Glory be unto the Faaaather, and unto the Sonnn... and into the hole he gooooes."
